Additional Explanation of classes of SCBKA membership.

Full Membership

In summary, this is the existing membership type which is offered to SCBKA members, At BBKA level, these members are identified as Registered Members.

Partner Membership

This is a new membership class which has been introduced by the BBKA. Partner Member will be available to a partner, living at the same address of a BBKA Registered Member, (typically husband or wife, but including other modern day interpretations of partnership). He or she may help with the bees and requires the range of BBKA benefits, particularly BBKA insurance. Previously, these people have had to pay a full capitation to the BBKA but will through this new class, pay a reduced BBKA fee which gives them full BBKA insurance but will only receive one copy of BBKA News (and FBBKA News) at that address. Sons and daughters may also benefit from this class, but they must be over the insurable age of 18. BDI would be taken out by the partner’s Full Member resident at the same address.

Country Membership

Country Membership is suitable for former beekeepers who as well as enjoying facilities offered by the SCBKA, still wish to keep in touch with BBKA affairs through receipt of BBKA News etc. Country members are not provided with either BBKA or BDI insurance but in all other respects have the benefits of being a member of the SCBKA.

Associate Membership

Associate Membership, is suitable for those who either do not keep bees or are full members of another Association. Associate members are not provided with either BBKA or BDI insurance but in all other respects have the benefits of being a member of the SCBKA.
